Abdias Tejeda was named the Miami Dolphins’ October Value Student of the Month during a Values Matter Miami initiative at Jose Marti MAST 6-12 Academy. The seventh grader received a custom Miami Dolphins jersey and accessories at the Oct. 20 event. The activity centered on responsibility, the initiative’s featured value for October.
The Miami Dolphins continued the initiative with Values Matter Miami and Miami-Dade County Public Schools, also known as M-DCPS. Middle and high school students participated in an interactive activity focused on character education and responsibility. The program recognizes students who model its core values.
Dolphins players joined responsibility activity
Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders and Dolphins players Ollie Gordon II, Jordyn Brooks and Josh Uche joined the students at the academy. The event used a Family Feud-style competition to engage participants. During the activity, the players spoke with students about the importance of responsibility.
The game show-inspired format brought the month’s featured value into the student activity. At the end of the event, the players surprised Tejeda with the custom jersey and accessories. His award recognized exemplary qualities connected to responsibility.
Values Matter Miami continues character education work
Values Matter Miami engages students through character education and recognizes those who model its core values. The initiative’s work at Jose Marti MAST 6-12 Academy combined student participation with an award tied to the month’s featured value.
