Madi Winn made nine saves, but the Eckerd College women’s soccer team suffered its first loss of the season Sunday, falling 6-0 to the Columbus State Cougars in Columbus, Georgia. Eckerd College moved to 2-1-1 on the season.
Columbus State scored three times during a nine-minute stretch in the first half. The Cougars scored in the 11th, 16th and 20th minutes to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.
The Cougars added goals in the 60th, 84th and 89th minutes. Shania Wegesend scored twice, while Mia Robinson, Skye Tumbelty, Kendal Coreil and Jada Goodman scored once each. Robinson assisted one goal, and Brylee Schermerhorn also recorded an assist.
Eckerd College recorded all four of its shots in the second half. Lisa Fureh, Ashley Nelson, Jillian Doerger and Kailani Casazza each recorded one shot. Columbus State had 15 shots on goal to Eckerd College’s zero.
Eckerd College scheduled to face Flagler
Eckerd College is scheduled to return home Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026, to face Flagler at 7:30 p.m.
