Eckerd College men’s soccer fell to Delta State, 3-0, on Sept. 6 in Cleveland, Miss. Delta State scored twice in a four-minute span during the first half, then added its final goal in the 53rd minute.
Ajay Stewart scored in the 30th minute with an assist from Tazjean Bird. Lucas Crowley scored in the 34th minute, with Bird assisting again, to give Delta State a 2-0 lead at halftime. Justin Krampl scored in the 53rd minute on an assist from Mills Sheridan.
Eckerd took seven of its eight shots in the second half. Harrison Thompson, Monty Clark and Gavin Spuler each placed a shot on target, while Lucas Quinones led Eckerd with two shots.
Duran van Woerkom made four saves for Eckerd. Eckerd held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks, but Delta State led 11-8 in shots. Delta State also held a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Eckerd moved to 1-3 on the season. The team is scheduled to return home Wednesday to face Trinity.
