The Miami Dolphins defeated the Buffalo Bills 30-13 Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium, ending Buffalo’s seven-game winning streak over Miami. The 17-point margin was the Dolphins’ largest against the Bills since a 35-8 victory in November 2011. Miami also kept Buffalo off the scoreboard during its first seven possessions.
De’Von Achane totaled 225 yards from scrimmage, the second-highest total of his career, and scored on runs of 59 and 35 yards. The Dolphins defense caused three turnovers, recorded three sacks of Josh Allen and hit him seven times. The victory reflected contributions from Miami’s offense, defense and special teams.
De’Von Achane leads balanced Dolphins offense
The Dolphins’ first scoring drive lasted 12 plays and included 10 runs by De’Von Achane, Jaylen Wright and Malik Washington. Malik Washington caught a 9-yard touchdown pass from Tua Tagovailoa during the drive. Jaylen Waddle then caught passes of 14 and 38 yards from Tagovailoa, with the longer reception going for a touchdown.
Tagovailoa completed five of five passes for 130 yards and a touchdown when throwing on play action. Achane joined Jonathan Taylor as the only players in the NFL in 2025 with three touchdown runs longer than 35 yards. Achane said the Dolphins’ running and passing games complemented each other when the offense remained balanced.
“When you are running the ball good, man, I feel like don’t go away from it,” Achane said. “When they was stacking the box and playing single high, now we’re going to ’17’ (Waddle). When it’s single high, that means he’s one on one and we like him against whoever we’re playing. I feel like we complement each other, the pass game and the run game; when we are a balanced offense, I feel like we do whatever we want.”
Miami Dolphins defense creates three turnovers
Miami’s defense sacked Josh Allen three times and hit him seven times. Allen averaged 3.53 seconds to throw on 43 dropbacks, his highest single-game mark since 2023. The Dolphins held the Buffalo Bills scoreless during their first seven possessions.
Bradley Chubb recorded four quarterback hits, one sack and three tackles. According to Pro Football Focus, Chubb produced 10 quarterback pressures, the most by any NFL player that week. Chubb said the defense’s performance came from its belief in one another and its process.
“It’s just about the belief, man,” Chubb said. “Everybody in there believing in each other, believing in the process, believing in how we’re going to take the field.”
Jack Jones recorded a forced fumble, six tackles and two tackles for loss. Julius Brents recovered a fumble and allowed two catches for 12 yards on five targets. Jordyn Brooks forced a fumble that was recovered by Minkah Fitzpatrick.
Fitzpatrick recorded a pass breakup on a fourth-down stop and made a goal-line stop on a Buffalo two-point attempt. Ifeatu Melifonwu intercepted his first pass as a member of the Dolphins, ending a nine-minute Buffalo drive with a pick in the end zone. Those plays helped Miami complete its three-turnover defensive performance.
Dolphins special teams help control field position
Jake Bailey punted three times for 153 yards, with a 42-yard average net. Two of his punts pinned the Bills inside their own 15-yard line. The punts helped the Dolphins limit Buffalo’s field position.
Elijah Campbell covered a 61-yard Bailey punt, limiting the return to seven yards. Campbell also helped down a 39-yard punt at the Bills’ 2-yard line. The play added to Miami’s special-teams impact in the victory.
