Ryan Rivas tied the Flagler College men’s soccer program record for career shutouts Wednesday as the Flagler College men’s soccer team defeated Georgia Southwestern 2-0 in the Peach Belt Conference opener in Americus, Georgia. Rivas recorded his 21st career clean sheet, matching Jon Jonsson for the most in program history. The victory improved Flagler College to 1-0-3 overall and 1-0 in Peach Belt Conference play, while Georgia Southwestern fell to 2-3 overall and 0-1.
Rivas faced one shot on goal and stopped it for Flagler College’s first clean sheet of the season. The result also gave Flagler College its sixth consecutive Peach Belt Conference-opening victory dating back to 2020. Georgia Southwestern finished with eight shots as Flagler College’s backline protected the lead.
Flagler College scores on corner kick and free kick
Finn Weigelt put Flagler College ahead in the 16th minute after Hugues Iguaran delivered the assist. Iguaran sent a corner kick into the box, where Weigelt headed the ball into the left corner of the net. Weigelt finished with three shots, including two on goal, in 73 minutes, and the goal was his second of the season and 12th of his career.
Flagler College added its second goal in the 77th minute on another set-piece opportunity. Will Cain sent a free-kick shot toward the goal, and Iguaran redirected it past the goalkeeper with a touch. Iguaran recorded his fourth career goal and fourth career assist while producing two shots on goal in 54 minutes.
Oliver Lindstrom, Filip Hornburg, John McGarry and Luke Williams each recorded multi-shot games. Ryan Berger and Hornburg played all 90 minutes on Flagler College’s backline. Their defensive effort helped preserve Rivas’ record-tying clean sheet.

Flagler College will host Clayton State on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 4 p.m. The Flagler College men’s soccer match will follow the Flagler College women’s soccer match at 1 p.m. Admission is free, and the match will be available on the Peach Belt Conference Sports Network.
