The Flagler women’s soccer team fell 3-0 to Eckerd College on Sept. 9 in Saint Petersburg, Fla. Flagler College entered the match with a 0-3-1 record, while Eckerd College entered at 3-1-1. Eckerd College scored twice in the first half and added another goal in the second half.
Ashley Nelson opened the scoring in the 12th minute with an assist from Nell Doe. Kailani Casazza doubled Eckerd College’s lead in the 41st minute, with Helen Scheer providing the assist. Ava Costa completed the scoring in the 81st minute on a goal assisted by Lisa Furéh.
Eckerd College outshot Flagler College 16-4 and held an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal. Brooke Rienecker and Aiyana Leslie each recorded a shot on goal for Flagler College, while Ava Scott and Phoebe Davidson recorded one shot apiece. Doe led all players with five shots, including two on goal.
Haley Stafford, Presley Ancheta, Keali Foster and Irina Barron-Gomez played all 90 minutes for Flagler College. Flagler College will return home for its home opener against Middle Georgia at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at Saints Field. The match also will serve as the Peach Belt Conference opener, with free admission and coverage available on the Peach Belt Conference Sports Network.
