Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Florida Cabinet approved the conveyance of a 22-acre parcel of state land to Hillsborough College for a proposed Tampa Bay Rays ballpark. The land will support redevelopment of the Hillsborough College Dale Mabry Campus site. The Tampa Bay Rays released a statement Tuesday after the approval.
The proposed project includes a new ballpark, a reinvented campus and a live, work, play and learn district. The Tampa Bay Rays said the project is scheduled to open in 2029. The approval covers the conveyance of state land to Hillsborough College for the redevelopment effort.
“The Tampa Bay Rays are grateful for the approval granted today by Governor Ron DeSantis and the Florida Cabinet for the conveyance of state land to Hillsborough College for the purpose of redeveloping the Dale Mabry Campus site for our proposed new ballpark, reinvented campus, and live, work, play, and learn district to open in 2029,” the team said.
