Warner (FL) men’s soccer lost 3-1 to Florida Polytechnic University on Wednesday, Sept. 9, in Lakeland, Fla. Jackson Davenport scored Warner’s lone goal in the 76th minute, giving him eight goals this season.
The teams were scoreless at halftime. Warner goalkeeper Mikey Melvin made three saves, including two in the first half, while Warner entered the match with a 1-2-2 record and Florida Polytechnic University entered at 4-1-0.
Davenport gives Warner the lead
Davenport put Warner ahead in the 76th minute with an assist from Euan Bunn. The goal moved Davenport to eight for the season, and he was listed second in the NAIA in goals scored early in the season.
Florida Polytechnic University responded with three second-half goals. Tarquin Adams scored with an assist from Adrian Arteaga, while Ahmad Hijaz and Martin Aguilar each scored on assists from Kaden Curtin.
Warner recorded four shots on goal, compared with six for Florida Polytechnic University. Warner will host Carolina University on Saturday at Royals Soccer Field, with kickoff scheduled for 10 a.m.
