Southeastern University women’s volleyball defeated the New College of Florida Mighty Banyans 3-1 on Sept. 9, 2026, at The Furnace in Lakeland, Fla. The match marked the first time Southeastern University volleyball competed as a ranked team in the NAIA Coaches’ Poll, with Southeastern University ranked No. 25. Southeastern University improved to 6-3 overall and 1-0 in The Sun Conference, while New College of Florida fell to 9-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
New College of Florida won the first set 25-22 before Southeastern University answered with a 39-37 second-set victory. The second set included 21 tie scores and 11 lead changes, while the match had 38 tie scores and 17 lead changes overall. Southeastern University then won the third set 25-19 and the fourth set 25-22 in front of more than 500 fans at The Furnace.

Haven Speer recorded 60 assists, tying The Sun Conference record for assists in a single match and setting a new Southeastern University program record. She also added two service aces and seven digs. The performance helped Southeastern University women’s volleyball complete the four-set victory.
Laura Bonomi led Southeastern University with 26 kills and four service aces, while Jillian Zoerman recorded a career-high 18 kills. Laura Santangeletta contributed six kills and six blocks, and Beatriz Cornachini finished with five kills, 10 digs and two blocks. Mallori Grey recorded a career-high 34 digs.
Southeastern University women’s volleyball was scheduled to return to action at Ave Maria on Sept. 12, 2026, at 2 p.m.
