Ave Maria Men’s Soccer lost 4-2 to the Thomas Night Hawks on Monday, Sept. 7, in Thomasville, Georgia. The loss dropped Ave Maria to 5-2 and ended the Gyrenes’ four-game winning streak.
Daniel Bourgeois scored 11 seconds into the match for Ave Maria, with Sava Cadjenovic providing the assist. Thomas tied the match in the 12th minute and took a 2-1 lead into halftime after scoring again in the 38th minute.
Fabio Mariotti tied the match early in the second half with his third goal of the season. Landon Gomez recorded the assist, his first of the season.
Brandon Gomez recorded a shot in the 51st minute, but Thomas regained the lead in the 57th minute on an own goal. Ave Maria had additional chances to equalize, including a shot by Bourgeois that was saved by the Thomas goalkeeper and attempts by Mateo Rolon and Cadjenovic.
Thomas added the final goal in the 79th minute, when Jake Wright scored with an assist from Edward Sack. Ethan Moore and Andrew Lopez also scored for the Night Hawks, with Franco Ghizzo assisting Moore and Fabio Medici assisting Lopez.
Ave Maria finished with 10 shots on goal, while Thomas had six. The match was the 11th all-time meeting between the programs and the first since 2022.

Ave Maria Men’s Soccer is scheduled to return home Saturday, Sept. 12, against the Florida Poly Phoenix. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m., and the match is scheduled to stream live on the Sun Digital Network.
Florida Poly is in its first season of competition and is seeking to join the Sun Conference in the future.
