Koren Klein scored in the 66th minute to give Southeastern University men’s soccer a 1-0 victory over Columbia International University on Sept. 8 in Columbia, S.C. The win completed Southeastern’s 2-0 road trip through South Carolina after a 3-1 victory over Spartanburg Methodist less than 24 hours earlier. Southeastern improved to 3-1-1 overall.

Southeastern applied pressure throughout the opening half but entered halftime tied 0-0. Jacob Dennis nearly broke the deadlock in the 12th minute when a deflected shot struck the crossbar. Southeastern held a 23-10 advantage in total shots and finished with a 6-2 edge in shots on goal.

Klein scored at 65:26 on an individual effort after cutting inside and bending a shot past the goalkeeper. Thomas Andrade Hardouin assisted on the goal, which gave Klein his third of the season.

Columbia International University pushed forward late, but Noah Murray-Hawkins preserved the shutout with two second-half saves on two shots on goal. Murray-Hawkins recorded his second clean sheet of the campaign. He was honored Monday with his second The Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week award.

Southeastern now has time to rest after playing four road games in 10 days.
