Iker Prados Molina sets men’s 5K record

Prados Molina earned his first Sun Runner of the Week honor of the season after breaking the Keiser University men’s 5K record with a time of 15:22.67. The previous record was 16:22.3, set the previous year by Gorata Gabankitse. Prados Molina finished second overall in a field spanning nine teams and was Keiser’s top individual finisher at the meet.

Prados Molina is a first-year athlete from Barcelona, Spain. His record-setting performance provided a major individual highlight as Keiser’s men’s cross country team closed out the week. The Week 2 honor marked his first Sun Runner of the Week recognition this season.

Mio Tanaka records unbeaten week in goal

Tanaka went 2-0-1 in goal during the week as No. 1 Keiser University women’s soccer stayed unbeaten. She made a season-high four saves in a 1-1 draw with No. 8 William Carey and recorded her first shutout of the season in a 2-0 win over Carroll (Mont.). Tanaka also kept a clean sheet in a 4-0 win over Ave Maria without making a save.

The shutout against Ave Maria was Tanaka’s eighth career clean sheet at Keiser University. The fourth-year senior from Himeji, Japan, has played all 360 minutes in goal this season. The award was the first Athlete of the Week honor of her career.

Prados Molina and Tanaka will be eligible for the Keiser Athlete of the Month award for August, which will be presented in September.
