Miami Dolphins quarterback Mark Gronowski said he was grateful for the opportunity to compete after returning to the team and receiving preseason game action. Gronowski spoke with media after the Dolphins’ preseason game on Aug. 28, 2026, and discussed his progress, his return and the areas he wants to improve.
“I’m just super grateful for the opportunity first off. It’s always a blessing to be out there playing with those guys,” Gronowski said.
Gronowski said the Dolphins needed to turn a red-zone fumble into points. He also explained that he originally went undrafted, was cut during training camp and later returned to the team. Gronowski said he had built relationships with teammates, including rookies, and coaches.
Gronowski wants to play more freely
Gronowski identified playing more freely and becoming more comfortable in the pocket as key areas of progress from the previous week. He said additional practice and game repetitions helped him feel more comfortable and play faster.
“I think it’s just going out there and just playing more free,” Gronowski said. He discussed throws to Terrace Marshall and Jalen Reagor, saying Marshall made a play on a one-on-one opportunity while the throw to Reagor was slightly overthrown.
Gronowski said his athleticism and ability to use his legs are important parts of his game. He added that he wants to continue developing as a passer, improve his pre-snap plans and continue delivering from the pocket.
“I think the biggest thing, I mean, I feel like I’ve showed my legs and I know that my athleticism is a big part of my game,” Gronowski said.
“And just continuing to grow as a passer, having better pre-snap plans when you’re going out there, so you can almost start playing the game before the play even happens,” Gronowski said.
