Diego Rey scored twice as Inter Miami CF II defeated New England Revolution II 4-2 on Aug. 20 at Inter Miami CF Stadium in MLS NEXT Pro action. Matias Acevedo and Idoh Zeltzer-Zubida also scored for Inter Miami CF II.
Inter Miami CF II took the lead in the 12th minute when Theo Vorenkamp delivered a ball from the right flank into the box, where Rey finished the chance. Rey doubled the advantage in the 26th minute after Cesar Abadia worked down the left flank and sent a ball into the area.
The hosts extended their lead to 3-0 in the 32nd minute. Rey found Acevedo with a backheel, and Acevedo drove toward the New England Revolution II penalty area before scoring his first goal for Inter Miami CF II.
New England Revolution II scored in the 43rd minute and again in the 71st minute to cut the deficit to one. Zeltzer-Zubida restored Inter Miami CF II’s two-goal lead in the 72nd minute with a strike from outside the penalty area, making the score 4-2.

Matias Marin served as captain and started in goal for Inter Miami CF II. Theo Vorenkamp, Daniel Sumalla, Tyler Hall and Cesar Abadia started in defense, while Joseph Convers, Ian Urkidi and Sloan Morrison opened in midfield.
Mateo Saja and Matias Acevedo started alongside Diego Rey in attack. Inter Miami CF II entered the match with a 2W-16L-4D record and 11 points.
