The New College of Florida Mighty Banyans men’s soccer team is set to travel to Lakeland, Florida, to face Florida Polytechnic University on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 7 p.m. This will mark the first-ever meeting between these two programs in men’s soccer.
Florida Polytechnic University is competing in its inaugural men’s soccer season and comes into the match with a 1-0 record after a commanding 4-0 home victory against Webber International. The match against New College will be the Phoenix’s second consecutive home game.
New College of Florida enters the contest following a 2-1 road defeat at RV Faulkner on August 22. The Mighty Banyans took the early lead when junior forward Ducamel Jeannestin scored the team’s first goal of the season in the 27th minute. This goal was assisted by newcomer Micah Nelson, who made an immediate impact in his debut.
Goalkeeper Cooper Kambak, a sophomore, recorded 11 saves in his first career start, helping keep the team even deep into the second half despite Faulkner taking 21 shots with 13 on target. New College remained tied or ahead for the first 83 minutes before conceding a late goal.
This game will be New College’s second consecutive road contest to begin the season and offers a chance for the Mighty Banyans to rebound on the road against a new opponent. The teams are scheduled to meet again on September 19 at New College’s Bayfront Field.
