A second-half goal by Teddy Franke gave Bellarmine a 1-0 victory over Stetson men’s soccer Saturday at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium in Louisville, Ky.
The match was Stetson’s ASUN Conference opener. Stetson moved to 0-3-1 overall and 0-1-0 in conference play, while Bellarmine improved to 3-0-1 overall and 1-0-0 in the ASUN.
Bellarmine breaks scoreless deadlock
The teams were scoreless through the opening 45 minutes. Stetson finished with a 12-6 advantage in shots and held a 7-1 edge in corner kicks.
Franke scored Bellarmine’s lone goal in the second half, with assists from Gavin Crowe and Kanata Taira. Bellarmine put three of its six shots on frame.
Valentin Fontaine led Stetson with three shots, while Desmond Bullard recorded the Hatters’ lone shot on goal. Mac McCall played all 90 minutes in goal for Stetson and made two saves.
Stetson hosts Georgia Southern next
Stetson will host Georgia Southern at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, at the Athletic Training Center in DeLand. The match is Stetson’s next scheduled contest.
