Stetson University Athletics’ men’s and women’s cross country teams competed Friday morning at the FSU Pre-Regional Invitational at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee. The meet marked the first time this season that the men raced over 8K and the women competed over 6K. Jonathan Pena led the men, while Micah Mizell paced the women.
Pena, a sophomore, finished 19th overall in the men’s race with a time of 25:04. Kenan Willard placed 27th in 25:22, followed by Seth Singer in 31st at 25:33. Blake Young finished 45th in 25:46, and Robbie Champa completed Stetson’s scoring five in 59th at 26:10.
Stetson finished ahead of Miami, USF, FAU and FIU in the men’s team standings. The race was the first 8K of the season for the Stetson men. Pena led the team at Apalachee Regional Park.
Micah Mizell Leads Stetson Women’s Cross Country
Mizell, a junior, led Stetson for the second consecutive meet. She finished 25th overall in 22:20 as the women’s race moved to 6K for the first time this season. Her result again put her at the front of the Stetson lineup.
Madi Kerr-Wong finished 56th in 23:04 after gaining 30 positions over the final 5K. Hannah Judge placed 71st in 23:26, while Avery Sommers finished 74th in 23:29. Freshman Hannah Koontz completed Stetson’s scoring five in 116th place with a time of 24:20.
The Stetson women finished 13th overall as a team. Their 6K race was the program’s first at that distance this season. Mizell led the group, followed by Kerr-Wong, Judge, Sommers and Koontz.
Next Meet
Stetson will return to action in two weeks at the Georgia Tech Invitational. Georgia Tech will host the meet. It will be the next competition for the Stetson cross country teams.

Stetson’s meet in Tallahassee featured its first men’s 8K and women’s 6K races of the season. Jonathan Pena led the men with a 19th-place finish, while Micah Mizell delivered her second consecutive team-leading performance for the women. The teams will next compete at the Georgia Tech Invitational in two weeks.
