Fort Lauderdale United FC lost 2-1 to Dallas Trinity FC on Friday evening at Amerant Bank Field, extending its losing streak to three matches. Sh’nia Gordon scored in the 60th minute for the second consecutive match, but Fort Lauderdale United FC could not overcome an early two-goal deficit. The defeat left Fort Lauderdale United FC at 1-4-0 through its first five matches of the season.
Fort Lauderdale United FC entered the match with a 1-4-0 record and three points, while Dallas Trinity FC came in at 3-2-1 with 10 points. Dallas Trinity FC opened the scoring in the 32nd minute when Knox scored from a corner kick. Hamid doubled the visitors’ lead just under one minute into the second half in the 46th minute.
Gordon and Locklear Spark Second-Half Push
Fort Lauderdale United FC cut into the deficit in the 60th minute through the combination of Kiara Locklear and Gordon. Locklear delivered a through ball, and Gordon sent the goalkeeper the wrong way before finishing into the near post. The assist added to Locklear’s all-time Fort Lauderdale United FC club lead.

Fort Lauderdale United FC also had a late free-kick opportunity that nearly found Walters’ foot in the eight-yard box. The home side could not convert its late pressure into a second goal. Dallas Trinity FC held on for the victory.
Nicole Vernis helped set up multiple attacking chances during the first half, while Kiara Locklear, Walters and Gordon made dangerous runs on the wings. The match had only two recorded shots during the opening 30 minutes, both by Dallas Trinity FC. Fort Lauderdale United FC created more pressure after halftime but could not erase the early deficit.

Fort Lauderdale United FC will travel to play DC Power FC on Tuesday, Sept. 22. The club will then return to Amerant Bank Field on Sunday, Oct. 11, to host Lexington SC. Those matches will follow the defeat to Dallas Trinity FC and Fort Lauderdale United FC’s third consecutive loss.
