Nick Mullens will back up Trevor Lawrence when the Jacksonville Jaguars face the Denver Broncos on Sunday at Empower Field at Mile High. The Jaguars elevated Mullens, a 10th-year veteran, from the practice squad Saturday for the Week 2 game. He will serve as Lawrence’s backup for the second consecutive game to open the 2026 season.
Second-year quarterback Quinn Ewers is inactive for Jacksonville. Mullens also was elevated into the backup role for the Jaguars’ Week 1 victory over the Cleveland Browns, and he served as Lawrence’s backup in 2025.
Jacksonville Jaguars inactive players
The Jaguars announced seven inactive players 90 minutes before kickoff. In addition to Ewers, the list includes rookie wide receiver C.J. Williams, rookie tight end Tanner Koziol, veteran offensive lineman Daniel Faalele, rookie defensive end Wesley Williams, veteran linebacker Jack Kiser and rookie safety Jalen Huskey.
Jacksonville’s Week 2 game against Denver is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026, at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, Colo. Mullens provides the Jaguars with their available backup behind Lawrence, while Ewers is among the players unavailable for the game.
