The Florida Panthers launched the Panthers Street Hockey League at Plantation Central Park for children ages 8-14. The 13-week youth coed program will include practices, games and playoffs from September through December. Participants of all skill levels are welcome.
The league will feature two divisions with separate weekly schedules. The U11 division is for children ages 8-11 and will meet on Tuesdays, while the U14 division is for children ages 12-14 and will meet on Thursdays.
League will use two game formats
U11 games will use 4-on-4 gameplay with goalies. U14 games will use full-rink 5-on-5 gameplay with goalies. The two formats are part of the league structure for the two age groups.
Players must have a stick, helmet and gloves. Shin guards and elbow pads are recommended but are not required. Equipment can be purchased directly through the Florida Panthers.
Registration and coaching details
The Panthers Street Hockey League will use volunteer-based coaches. Volunteer coaches will receive a discount on their children’s registration fees. The program is open to participants of all skill levels.
Participants can register individually and be assigned to a team at random. They also can register with friends and request up to two friends on the same team. Registration is available through FloridaPanthers.com/PSHL.
