Rose Muturi led Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University Women’s Cross Country in its 2026 season opener, finishing 44th overall in 18:58.84 at the Florida Intercollegiate Cross Country Invitational on Sept. 4.
North Florida hosted the meet at Cecil Field Golf Course in Jacksonville, Florida. Florida A&M finished with 330 points in the 5K race.
Muturi Leads Florida A&M Performers
Muturi led Florida A&M’s individual performers with her 18:58.84 finish. Niya Coleman was the second-fastest Florida A&M performer, placing 78th in 20:00.93, while Bree Brooks finished in 20:03.48.
Christina Fitzpatrick finished in 20:04.20 and was listed 82nd in the Florida A&M individual performers results. Jaade McBride recorded a time of 20:31.00 and was listed 95th, while Leandra Ferrell finished in 20:42.29 and was listed 101st.
Nina Story completed Florida A&M’s listed performers with a time of 21:23.26.
UCF Wins Team Title
UCF won the team title with 43 points, followed by North Florida with 74 points and Florida Atlantic with 88 points. Embry-Riddle finished with 107 points, Miami scored 117 and Florida Gulf Coast recorded 140 to complete the top six team finishers.
UCF’s Alexandra Raquet won the individual race in 16:52.88.
Florida A&M’s Next Meet
Florida A&M Women’s Cross Country will compete next at the Willie Laster Cross Country Invitational hosted by Albany State in Albany, Georgia. The meet is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 11.
