Saint Leo University defeated Webber International (FL) 3-1 Tuesday in Babson Park, Florida, as Chloe Froese scored twice for the Saint Leo women’s soccer team. Froese’s second goal came in the 82nd minute and gave Saint Leo the lead for good. The performance marked her second career brace.
The match was scoreless at halftime before Froese scored in the 61st minute to put Saint Leo ahead. Webber International (FL) tied the match with a penalty kick in the 77th minute, with Sophia Schlager scoring for Webber. Froese answered five minutes later, scoring off an assist from Sara Hansen.
Kennedy Hartzell converted a penalty kick in the 89th minute to complete the scoring. Froese finished with two goals and four shots on goal, while Saint Leo outshot Webber International (FL) 29-5. Saint Leo also held a 10-1 advantage in shots on goal and a 7-2 edge in corner kicks.
Addison Pitt made one save in goal for Saint Leo. The Saint Leo women’s soccer team will play at the University of Tampa on Sept. 16 to begin conference play.
