Keiser University women’s volleyball lost to Southeastern 3-1 on Sept. 19, falling 25-22, 25-19, 20-25, 25-23 in a Sun Conference match at The Furnace. The Seahawks dropped to 5-7 overall and 2-2 in conference play, while Southeastern improved to 9-3 overall and 3-0 in the Sun Conference.
Keiser won the third set to extend the match, but Southeastern closed out the fourth set by a 25-23 margin. The Seahawks finished with advantages in blocks and digs, recording nine blocks and 92 digs compared with Southeastern’s seven blocks and 87 digs.
Bennett and Worsham lead Keiser attack
Makenzi Bennett and Cece Worsham led Keiser with 13 kills apiece. Bennett added 18 digs, two aces and a team-high 15 points to record her second double-double of the season. Worsham contributed 12 digs and one ace for her fifth double-double of the year.
Mallory Dills recorded 33 assists, two aces and 11 digs for her first double-double of the season. Amie Molina added 13 assists and 10 digs, also earning her first double-double of the season.
Reese Jones led Keiser with a career-high 21 digs. Aubree Valcourt finished with five blocks, all assists, while Amelia Langelier had eight kills and four block assists. Addison Chapman and Hannah Mary Herrick each added seven kills and four block assists.
Southeastern answers in close sets
Laura Bonomi led Southeastern with 17 kills and 20 digs. Haven Speer totaled 46 assists and three aces, while Mallori Grey had 34 digs and Jillian Zoerman recorded 12 kills.
Keiser hit .135 with 32 attack errors, while Southeastern hit .151 with 24 errors. The Seahawks also held a 9-7 advantage in blocks and a 92-87 edge in digs, but Southeastern won three of the four sets.
The result moved Keiser to 17-24 all-time against Southeastern and 12-21 in Sun Conference matches. Four Keiser players recorded double-doubles in the match: Bennett, Worsham, Dills and Molina.
Keiser hosts Ave Maria on Wednesday
Keiser University women’s volleyball will host the Ave Maria Gyrenes on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 6:30 p.m. The match will be played at the Student Life Center.
The Seahawks will enter the home match at 2-2 in Sun Conference play. Bennett, Worsham, Dills and Molina each posted a double-double against Southeastern, while Jones established a career high with 21 digs.

Keiser produced four double-doubles and held statistical advantages in blocks and digs, but Southeastern won the deciding points in three sets. Bennett and Worsham supplied 26 combined kills, while Jones anchored the defensive effort with a career-high 21 digs. The Seahawks now return home Wednesday to face Ave Maria.
