The Florida Panthers acquired goaltender Daniil Tarasov from the Columbus Blue Jackets on June 26, 2025, in exchange for Florida’s own fifth-round selection, No. 160 overall, in the 2025 NHL Draft. Florida Panthers President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Bill Zito announced the transaction. The Panthers are identified as the back-to-back 2024 and 2025 Stanley Cup Champions.
Tarasov appeared in 20 games with the Columbus Blue Jackets during the 2024-25 season, posting a 7-10-2 record, a .881 save percentage and a 3.54 goals-against average. He recorded his first NHL shutout on Jan. 18 against the New York Rangers, stopping all 26 shots he faced in regulation and overtime. Tarasov also went 1-1-0 with a .908 save percentage and a 2.96 goals-against average in two appearances with the Cleveland Monsters, Columbus’ American Hockey League affiliate.
Daniil Tarasov brings NHL, AHL and international experience
The 26-year-old Tarasov is 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 203 pounds. The Novokuznetsk, Russia, native has played 65 career NHL games, all with the Columbus Blue Jackets from 2021-22 through 2024-25. He has compiled a 19-34-6 record, a .898 save percentage and a 3.44 goals-against average in those games.
Tarasov appeared in 34 American Hockey League games with the Cleveland Monsters from 2020-21 through 2024-25, recording a 17-12-3 record, a .894 save percentage and a 3.25 goals-against average. Before beginning his North American career, he played in 18 Kontinental Hockey League games with Salavat Yulaev Ufa during the 2018-19 and 2020-21 seasons. He produced an 11-4-3 record, a .924 save percentage and a 2.13 goals-against average in those KHL appearances.
Tarasov won a bronze medal with Russia at the 2019 IIHF U20 World Junior Championship and posted a 2-0-0 record in the tournament. He also represented Russia at the 2016 IIHF U18 World Junior Championship, recording a 2-1-0 record, a .921 save percentage and a 2.11 goals-against average. The Columbus Blue Jackets selected Tarasov in the third round, No. 86 overall, of the 2017 NHL Draft.
