The Dunedin Blue Jays defeated the Palm Beach Cardinals 7-1 on Aug. 25 at TD Ballpark in Dunedin, Florida, for their fifth consecutive victory. Owen Carapellotti and Aldo Gaxiola hit back-to-back home runs in the fourth inning, giving Dunedin the lead in the Florida State League series opener.
Carapellotti tied the game with a solo home run, and Gaxiola hit a go-ahead solo shot two pitches later. Carapellotti went 1-for-3 with one home run, one RBI, two runs scored and one walk, while Gaxiola finished 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBIs and two runs scored. Gaxiola added an RBI single in the sixth inning.
Jack Nedrow Earns the Win
Jack Nedrow earned the win after pitching 5.1 shutout innings. He allowed two hits and two walks while striking out six batters. Nedrow has a 1.08 ERA across four outings, including two starts, spanning 16.2 innings since returning to Dunedin on July 9.
Owen Carapellotti, Aldo Gaxiola Continue Home Run Runs
Carapellotti hit his sixth home run in his last seven games and has 14 home runs in 36 Class-A games this season. Over his last seven games, he is batting .370 with six home runs, nine RBIs and a 1.488 OPS.
Gaxiola’s home run was his 15th of the season. The ball left his bat at 101.4 mph and traveled 384 feet, and Gaxiola has homered in three consecutive games and four of his last six contests. He is the first Dunedin Blue Jays player this season to homer in three consecutive games.
Across 15 August games, Gaxiola is batting .365 with five home runs, 15 RBIs and a 1.155 OPS. His 15 home runs are tied for sixth in the Florida State League and rank sixth in the Blue Jays farm system.
