Tony Castricone will succeed Gene Deckerhoff as the football play-by-play voice of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and lead Buccaneers Radio Network coverage beginning with the 2026 preseason. Castricone will call all of Tampa Bay’s preseason, regular-season and postseason games. He will make his Buccaneers debut when Tampa Bay opens the 2026 preseason against the New York Jets on Aug. 14.
Castricone spent nine seasons as the director of broadcasting and radio voice for University of Washington football and men’s basketball. He also will contribute to Tampa Bay Buccaneers team-produced programming, digital content and organizational events. Dave Moore will enter his 20th season in the Buccaneers radio booth in 2026.
Castricone joined Rondé Barber and JB Biunno on the Rondé Barber Show to discuss his broadcasting philosophy and move to Tampa Bay. He said he will develop his own approach rather than try to replicate Deckerhoff.
“I am not going to be Gene because Gene is 1-of-1,” Castricone said. “I am going to come in and do the games to the best of my ability, be super passionate about the job. What made Gene great was not just an unbelievable ability to paint the crystal-clear image in your mind of what was going on, but you also just smiled listening to him.”
Castricone also identified passion as a defining part of his work and said he focuses on bringing game moments to life.
“I think what defines me as a broadcaster is passion,” Castricone said. “If there is one problem I have in calling games, it is holding it back sometimes. I have to put a harness around it and make sure I do not hit 10 until it deserves a 10 … I stand during games and watch every play through the binoculars…It is all about bringing moments to life.”
Tampa Bay Buccaneers set Dec. 6 uniform matchup against Los Angeles Chargers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will wear their classic white uniforms on Dec. 6, 2026, when they face the Los Angeles Chargers at Raymond James Stadium. The 2026 uniform set will include the 1976 sleeve pattern, original white helmets, white pants and striped socks. The words “Hey! Hey! Tampa Bay!” will be stitched inside the jersey collar.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers schedule eight open training camp practices
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ 2026 training camp will feature eight open practices at the AdventHealth Training Center. The first fan-accessible practice is scheduled for July 30 at 8:30 a.m. All listed practices will begin at 8:30 a.m. except the Aug. 4 night practice, which will begin at 7 p.m.
- July 30, 8:30 a.m. – Open practice for the general public at the AdventHealth Training Center
- July 31, 8:30 a.m. – Open practice for Krewe Members and the general public at the AdventHealth Training Center
- Aug. 7, 8:30 a.m. – Open practice for Jr. Bucs at the AdventHealth Training Center
- Aug. 3, 8:30 a.m. – Open practice for Military Day presented by USAA at the AdventHealth Training Center
- Aug. 4, 7 p.m. – Open practice for Krewe Members at the AdventHealth Training Center
- Aug. 6, 8:30 a.m. – Open practice for She is Football Day presented by AdventHealth at the AdventHealth Training Center
- Aug. 7, 8:30 a.m. – Open practice for the general public at the AdventHealth Training Center
- Aug. 9, 8:30 a.m. – Open practice for Krewe Members at the AdventHealth Training Center
Digital tickets will be available to Krewe Members beginning June 16 and to the general public beginning June 22. The listed practices will take place at the AdventHealth Training Center. The schedule includes access for the general public, Krewe Members, Jr. Bucs, Military Day and She is Football Day attendees.
Jon Gruden to join Rondé Barber for preseason broadcast
Jon Gruden will join Rondé Barber in the booth for the WFLA-TV broadcast of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Aug. 22 preseason game against the Chiefs at Raymond James Stadium. Gruden led the Buccaneers to their first Super Bowl championship and served as Tampa Bay’s head coach for seven seasons. He also spent 10 years in the ESPN broadcast booth on the Monday Night Football crew.
